Bubble Quest
A downloadable game for Windows and macOS
Play as Fys in this dynamic platforming adventure where you'll cast bubbles to push, pop and overcome all difficulties!
Gameplay
Use bubbles in all sorts of creative ways to complete levels! When bubbles pop, they push stuff around, and that includes.. you!
Many obstacles await during your journey, but surely your bubbles will get you through them!
It does contain spoilers though ;)
Whats new in the beta?
Level 2 and 3 are already unlocked!
Start directly from level 3 if you have already played the alpha!
Change in the mouse aiming system!
Now there are two different aiming systems for the keyboard and mouse users: the old one (called legacy in the control settings) and a new one, where the cursor is always visible and the bubble is shot aiming it
New levels are available and new mechanics!
There are now 7 normal levels and 3 special levels available, search them in the hub!
Face new challenges with brand new mechanics, such as wind, launchers, lights and... bubble defense??
Day/Night cycle in the hub
You can now see the hub under two different lights: day and night!
Life Potion
Noting the possible difficulty in approaching the game, we've added some health potions along the way.
Level Time
You can now see your fastest time in a level! Try and beat it, you can go really fast!
Improved graphics!
Shining new particles have been added, along with new backgrounds and decorations! Don't scare the birds, please!
Controls
LEGACY: Press and move your mouse to change the direction of the aim. The starting direction is your movement input, or the direction you are going in if no input is given.
Feedback
Please leave us feedback here in the comments or in the game itself! Tell us everything you didn't like, such as difficulty, collectibles, movement, art, sound or whatever! All feedback is precious.

!! For MAC Users !!
The game was built on Windows, this means that, sadly, we cannot give it execution permission, you'll have to do it yourself.
In order to do it, you should download the .zip and extract it. In the end, you should have a .app file somewhere.
Then, you should open a terminal in the folder where the .app file is located, and run the following command to give the game execution permissions:
chmod -R +x BubbleQuest-1.0-macOS.app/Contents/MacOS
Replace "BubbleQuest-1.0-macOS.app" with the name you have downloaded from itch if it does not work (it means we forgot to update this page :P)
If you still can't run the game because "Apple can't check for malware", just right click on the app and press "Open". From there, you should have the option to start the game anyway.
On a newer Mac, it may happen that Safari automatically unzips the game. This sometimes leads to some other errors. To remedy this, try disabling in Safari the option to automatically unzip the file, then unzip it manually with the standard app.

I found what I think might be a bug, when you have a controller plugged in and you want to play with mouse and keyboard only the keyboard work the mouse doesn't even show up.
Thank you for reporting it to us. Actually, that is intended behaviour. We know it not a super elegant solution, but we did it to avoid having the cursor visible when playing with a controller. If we have time it would for sure be a good thing to improve on, so thank you :)
Very nice prototype!
Platforming in the bubbles feels very good when I manage to get it right and the artstyle is very cute.
I would like better controller supprt as the character movement feels much better with a joystick but I couldn't use the bubbles with my gamepad =(
Hey! Thanks for the feedback. Would you mind telling us which controller did you use? Everything works with our controllers, so it will be hard to debug :(
Nice graphic, the game is really fun, the only problem i encountered was that you were unable to see your mouse. Especially when you have to do the bubble in mid-air it, you can lose track of your pointer and throw a bubble in the wrong direction.
hi, thanks for the review! Actually it was on purpose, as the aim is not based on the position of the mouse but on how you move it. The starting position of the aim instead is based on the input of the player (if I'm pressing W for example, the aim would start from 90°, W and D from 45° ecc ecc). We thought it was easier and more fluent while playing, but we can change it for the beta!
A really fun and complete game for only being in development! It is very intuitive to figure out what to do, and the visual and sound feedback make for a unique experience. Above all, I did not encounter any bugs. However, I find the difficulty excessive from the second level onward. (I say this as someone who is not particularly good at platformers). Maybe a few smaller and easier intermediate levels would be better to give more familiarity with the game mechanics.
Thanks a lot for your feedback and kind words! I agree with you, the difficulty gap can be quite high, so we will try to tone it down a notch! Thanks again!
