Echo City is a prototype of a sound-driven stealth horror game where the world is invisible until it resonates.
In the remains of Kael’s laboratory, Noah uses experimental echolocation glasses that reconstruct the environment through acoustic pulses. Different frequencies reveal different levels of detail, forcing the player to balance information and risk.

Enemies navigate and react through sound. They estimate distance, attraction levels, and direction, creating a dynamic and unpredictable threat in a space without light.
This prototype focuses on mechanics, atmosphere, and AI behavior rather than content volume.

Core Mechanics

  • Dynamic echolocation vision using lows, mids and highs frequency pulses

  • Low frequencies reveal the presence and silhouette of large objects; medium and high frequencies progressively expose the geometry and finer details.

  • Creature AI sensitive to noise, distance, and pulse type

  • Full darkness requiring deliberate sound-based exploration

  • Complex enemy behavior system, including patrol, investigation, mandatory chase, noise-based chase, and examination states
