Bug fixes and macOS performance issues
Greetings from the ColorShift team!
We just pushed the (hopefully) last of a set of corrective patches, thanks to lots of feedback we already received. Thanks for your inputs. Please update to the newer version that is now available. The itch.io Desktop App (itch.io/app) lets you manage updates easily and automatically, we strongly recommend you to use that.
macOS users might experience serious performance and appearance issues due to the extensive use of shaders throughout the game. Because of this, the character will misbehave in the first few minutes or so, and input will feel laggy at first. We’re actively looking for solutions to this problem, but the Metal APIs of macOS’ graphics stack are making it hard to deal with if working on a cross-platform project. VSync can be enabled to mitigate. Look for this option in the Settings Menu and in the Pause Menu. Don’t forget to close memory-consuming programs such as your IDE and Unity before opening our game. Windows users are not expected to experience problems in this regard.
- Greatly improved the Feedback UI (we totally didn’t catch those problems, sorry about that!);
- Deadly bugs squashed, allowing the player to move between levels, instead of going back to the Main Menu;
- The builded app now successfully applies the absorbed color to Chrome;
- VSync can now be enabled (macOS users will likely benefit from it);
- Quality of life improvements.
Thanks for your attention, happy gaming (and studying T_T)!
The ColorShift devs.
